Jewels of the Oasis was formed in 1987 in Richmond, Virginia by a group of students taking belly-dancing classes with a local instructor named Sheva. She used to send her students to local nursing homes to practice their techniques and eventually the ladies decided to form their own troupe and called themselves Jewels of the Oasis. Today the group dances in many venues around Richmond and Central Virginia.
The group does not teach or sponsor classes. Most of our dancers take classes from professional teachers in the Richmond area. If you are looking for belly dance classes there are many teachers around Richmond who you may take classes from.
